We are Cambridge University's only purpose built catering and conference facility. Set in the heart of Cambridge, with great views over the Millpond and River Cam. We are the University's largest catering operation. Uniquely we can offer conference and catering facilities throughout the year so whether you need a meeting room, presentation space, lunch or dinner we are the ideal venue. We offer an extensive range of menus to suit every occasion, but if you would prefer to create your own, we will be delighted to accommodate you. However large or small your event, our friendly and experienced conference team will make sure it runs smoothly and will provide you with all the back-up you need, both at the planning stage and during the event itself. Whether you need a full PA system complete with technical support or just a few flip charts, pads and pens, we have an extensive range of conference equipment available to hire. We can also provide basic office support throughout the day such as faxing, message taking and photocopying. The Riverside Restaurant, on the first floor of The University Centre, is one of the best - and best value - restaurants in Cambridge, serving imaginative Modern British food. Our carefully designed seasonal menus are presented to the highest standards in a sophisticated modern setting, which boasts one of the best views across the River Cam. We uniquely offer all year round availability. With fantastic views over the River Cam, and cutting edge training equipment, Blue Fitness is the perfect place to keep fit and healthy. Blue Fitness is purpose designed as a warm, friendly exercise environment, located in the heart of the City, with state-of-the-art training equipment, air conditioning, changing facilities and fantastic, individual showers. Short-term memberships are available.

Main Dining Hall is open for lunch from 12.15 to 14.00 and 18.00 and 21.00 for dinner and is the perfect place to take delegates for a self service hot lunch. It is also available to hire for large private dinners on a Saturday evening.

Alternatively, lunch can be delivered to your meeting room: options include a light working lunch, a cold buffet or a three-course meal with waitress service.
Lighter options include a high quality self-service cafeteria in the Main Dining Hall, or Grads Café.

The University Centre was founded to provide leisure facilities for members of the University of Cambridge.
Built in 1967, the Centre was designed by the architectural partnership of Howell, Killick, Partridge and Amis and constructed using a £330,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation. A plaque commemorating the official opening on 7th November 1967 by Sir Isaac Wolfson sits opposite Reception.
Architecture
The building is faced externally with naturally textured Portland stone bolted onto a concrete frame with exposed stainless steel bolts and washers. The projecting window surrounds are clad in lead. Its structure, made of high-quality precast units, is expressed internally as an architectural theme. The bays are rectangular with chopped-off corners, which reinforce their identity as separate rooms.
In 1968 the University Centre received a Civic Trust Award and a Concrete Society Commendation.
"We held a weekend event at the University Centre this summer and can't recommend the venue highly enough. The staff are always on call and always ready to help with anything at a moment's notice. The room was large, light and airy and perfectly suited to our needs. Having a cafe open all day was a bonus too as was having a lunchtime restaurant only a few feet away from our room. We certainly hope to return next year."
