New ensuite accommodation at Sidney Sussex
Within the Cambridge Colleges, we have in the region of 3000 ensuite rooms and a further 3,500 rooms with shared facilities, which help us to meet the requirements of residential events. As 42% of the enquiries we receive for accommodation are for single ensuite bedrooms, it’s good to know that new facilities are being developed each year.
Some of our clients have a preference for traditional venues, but still require ensuite accommodation; oh if it were only possible to go back in time to ask the architects to build, design and plumb the rooms for our modern needs!
It’s great news therefore, that Sidney Sussex College, a small, historic College founded in 1596, located in the centre of Cambridge, is the latest to add its name to the venues that can offer ensuite facilities.
The College now has 105 ensuite rooms on offer during vacation periods, which will make it an excellent choice for many residential events. The College is very friendly and offers superb facilities and delicious cuisine for non-residential events too.

Events
At Conference Cambridge, we place a vast range of events in an extensive portfolio of venues. We thought it would be interesting and useful for you to put together an album of event experiences, to give a flavour of the personality of the venues on offer.
We invite clients, who successfully place events using our service, to write a brief event summary that we will make available to other clients here and online.
Client: Cambridge University Press
Event: Dinner for 50 guests, 4 April 2005
Venue: St John’s College
‘We recently used Conference Cambridge to help find a venue for one of our conference dinners. Within 3 days I had received replies from 8 of the Colleges with details of the facilities they could offer. We decided to use St John's as it was close to the conference venue and we booked the Wordsworth Room for dinner with pre-dinner drinks in The Old Music Room.’
On arrival we were greeted with a choice of drinks and then we moved on to the Wordsworth Room for dinner. The food was well served and presented and extremely tasty, however, the room was a little cosy as we were close to limit on numbers for dinner within the Wordsworth Room.
Conference Cambridge is an excellent facility which provides a unique and extremely useful service, particularly for those within Cambridge trying to organise a large function. I would definitely recommend their services and will use them again to organise further functions.’
Becky Binney, Cambridge University Press
Client: The Open University in the East of England
Event: Day meeting for 40 guests, 23 April 2005
Venue: Møller Centre
‘We have held staff development events at the Møller Centre before but this time we were looking for a cheaper venue. I contacted Conference Cambridge as I thought it would be an efficient way of finding out which of the Cambridge Colleges and associated venues could accommodate us on the date we wanted. I received two replies. The first was from the Møller Centre, on the same day as my initial enquiry, offering us the day delegate rate I had specified. As I know the Møller Centre and have always been impressed by the venue and the service we receive from staff there, I immediately took them up on the offer. A couple of days later I received an enquiry from Homerton asking if we had found a venue yet. By this stage I had already confirmed my booking with the Møller Centre.
I did not receive any brochures or written material from the Møller Centre (other than the contract) as staff knew that we had booked the venue several times before.
As always, everything went very smoothly on the day. Meeting rooms were set up as we had requested and the catering was very good (we always get positive feedback about the food at the Møller Centre on the evaluation sheets filled out by those who attended!).
I spoke with Emma Williams-Wynn on the telephone several times before the event and was extremely impressed by her professional and friendly manner and with the efficient way in which she dealt with my requests and changes to the arrangements I had made.
I will definitely use the Conference Cambridge service again when we need to find an external venue in Cambridge for an Open University event and will also recommend it to friends who may find your service useful for weddings and other private functions.’

Happy Clients
Just a few of our happy clients!
‘Impressively fast response from a good number of venues.’
Alan White, Jubilee Centre
‘I was very impressed with your service and the contacts from the Colleges. I would happily use it again and have recommended it to colleagues.’
Gerard Walker, Certification Office
‘The replies we received were very helpful, particularly when we were requesting a date which was in termtime and at very short notice. Because of the limited time available we eventually made use of some rooms at the Press Site. I would, however, like to thank you for all your help and impress upon you that from our point of view the exercise was very valuable. It has made us aware of the resources that are available and how we can access these resources when necessary.’
Carole Cornthwaite, Cambridge Printing Promotional
‘Information received (from three Colleges) was excellent. We are still finalising arrangements for their meeting and no decision has yet been made yet as to which College they will choose. Your service is excellent - from the initial telephone enquiry through to information received - all very impressive!’
Carole Noble, The Council of the Oxford Farming Conference
‘Thank you for your help with this. We had many responses and have chosen Robinson College as the only one who could really cope with the numbers we anticipate. We have written to all the other respondees, thanking them but refusing their offers. Conference Cambridge, as always, saved us countless hours of phoning and puts the onus on the Colleges to offer their services, which as far as I am concerned is essential. Thank you - invaluable assistance.’
Jackie Jenkins, Cambridge University Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre
