Hughes Hall

Hughes Hall is the oldest of the graduate colleges, having been founded in 1885 as a College for the training of women graduates who wished to become teachers.

In the 1960s the College started to admit men and by the early 1980s it had become a fully diversified graduate College.

The College currently has nearly 500 students of whom approximately one third are taking PhDs and one third are Masters students. Students are accepted in practically all disciplines but there is an emphasis on professional subjects such as education, law, medicine and management.

With its close proximity to central Cambridge and the railway station, it is an ideal venue during July, August and September for summer residential conferences. Ample parking is available during these months. The facilities are available for non-residential conferences and meetings throughout the year.

	Seminar Room A	0	0	28	10	12	14	12	The Hughes Hall conference suite contains three meeting rooms of varying size, which open onto a foyer with informal seating, its own entrance and cloakrooms. The rooms are spacious and well lit, the furniture is comfortable and flexible, and the décor is simple but pleasant.
